My parents have a deep connection to the charming city of Abbeville, Louisiana - a place located 150 miles west of New Orleans and 60 miles south of Baton Rouge. It holds a special place in my heart as it provided me with comfort and a path to recovery after facing a major setback. The warm, welcoming community of Abbeville was a true haven during a challenging time in my life.
In May 2018, I faced a major setback when I suffered a complete rupture of my Achilles tendon. But my parents, who I love dearly and consider the best in the world, stepped up and took me in to help me recover. It was during this time that I encountered some of the most remarkable individuals, including my physical therapist. This hero went above and beyond to help me regain my ability to walk, and I couldn't be more grateful. I decided to heal organically and avoid surgery, and my therapist was there to support me every step of the way.
Abbeville is also renowned for its Cajun culture and food, and I have fond memories of my dad bringing home heaping piles of crawfish boils. This iconic Louisiana Cajun delicacy is made with live crawfish, Cajun seasonings, corn, red potatoes, and smoked sausage, and is truly a must-try for anyone who loves good food.
The residents of Abbeville love to celebrate Mardi Gras with traditional Cajun music, dancing, and lots of delicious food, and the town is also home to the Giant Omelet Celebration, where a 5,000-egg omelette is cooked in a giant skillet and served to the entire town. How awesome is that!?!? In short, Abbeville, Louisiana holds so many wonderful memories for me—from my healing journey to the delicious food and vibrant cultural celebrations. I hope that Abbie brings a little bit of that same magic into your home as part of our Bottle Collection - USA Edition.
